ELLEN TISE ELECTED TO OCLC BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Ms Ellen Tise, Senior Director: Library and Information Service at Stellenbosch University (SU), has been elected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Online Computer Library Centre (OCLC), based in the United States of America. She will be the first board member representing the African continent and will serve a four-year term. The purpose of the OCLC is to establish, maintain and operate a computerised library network and to promote the evolution of library use, of libraries themselves, and of librarianship. The OCLC members cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the worlds most comprehensive database of library materials. The Board of Trustees consists of 16 members, more than half of whom are
librarians.

We would like to congratulate Ms Tise on this great achievement.
