In terms of the license agreements governing the electronic resources that the Library subscribes to, access to these resources is restricted to Stellenbosch University staff members and currently registered students. It is therefore important that users identify themselves as legitimate SU users before they will be allowed to access a resource.

Do a Library Search on the library website or choose E-Databases or E-Journals from the FIND menu. When off-campus and prompted to sign-on, log in with your SU username (not email address) and password. See how to do a library search here.

SU e-application process

If you are not a registered Stellenbosch University student or staff member with your own SU username and password, see the SU user e-application options to follow for access to electronic services on the SU campus (and off-campus).

Postgraduate students

Please submit your postgraduate student application through the University's application system (SUNStudent applicant portal). This process is handled by the University's Admission Office.

SU staff / external workers

Should you find yourself at the University as an staff member / external worker without your own SU username and password, please consult with your departmental secretary to complete an Identity record on SUNiD and create a SU username, which is handled by the Information Technology Division of the University.

Enquiries regarding your SU username can be directed to your departmental secretary.

Once abovementioned process is done, you will gain access to the subscription e-resources and your library account to, renew your books online, on the library website with your SU username and password.

Pensioners

Due to licensing agreements, access to the library's subscription e-resources is restricted to currently registered students and staff members of Stellenbosch University.
