If you are a SU registered student or staff member, you will have access to a

off-campus via our
library homepage. Type
your search terms in the search box OR choose E-Databases, E-Journals or

How will it work?
To avoid disappointment,
off-campus students signed up for document delivery and visiting the library in person for assistance, are encouraged to make appointments with the contact persons. The contact persons will:
- request the documents via interlibrary loans from another library, if necessary;
- make photocopies or scan copies (within the limits of the
copyright law, that is only one article per journal issue and one chapter per book);
- issue the books to the student's library account;
- send journal articles and scanned photocopies by e-mail;
- send books from the Stellenbosch University and Theology libraries according to the student's preferred service, by registered mail;
- send books from the Medicine & Health Science Library by registered mail only.
Collection of library material
Off-campus students are responsible to collect the library material from the post office, renew the items on loan before the due date or return them either in person or by registered mail.
Borrowing period
Signed up students receive an extended borrowing period of 2 months.
Renew material online
Books may be renewed twice unless requested by another client. More information is available on the
Renew page under Borrowing.
FAQs
Why do I have to sign up for off-campus document delivery?
To enable delivery of documents to your off-campus location
and to collect the fees involved, a record of your contact details is
required. As a
signed-up off-campus student you will also receive an extended borrowing period of 2 months.
Are books delivered to other countries?
No
books of the Library and Information Service will be mailed to other
countries. Scanned pages from books (within the limits of the copyright law) and journal articles can, however, be e-mailed to signed-up off-campus students living abroad.
What if I still need access to other libraries?
Request a referral letter that needs to be presented to the other South African University libraries for access and borrowing membership. See Visiting and using other university libraries.
What other services are available to signed-up off-campus students?

postgraduate and
prospective postgraduate guides are available to signed-up off-campus students.
- Faculty librarians may be contacted for research support, assistance in finding information, reference techniques and library training.
