and Information Service will be presenting its third Library Research Week this
year from 11 - 15 May. The aim of the event is to develop the skills and
knowledge of emerging Stellenbosch University researchers and postgraduate students
and to equip them with practical knowledge of measuring research impact,
building their online presence and making them aware of the use of researcher

addressing a variety of resources for measuring author impact.
Resources and tools include citation analysis using Scopus and Web of
Science, the H-index, and Journal Citation Reports. Additionally, the

Google Scholar Citations and other altmetrics which provide information
about the usage and impact of research through social media structures.

Johann Mouton is Professor in and Director of the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science
and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University and the African
Doctoral Academy. Johann Mouton is also the Programme Director of five post-graduate programmes in Monitoring and Evaluation Studies and
Science and Technology Studies. His main research interests are
the philosophy and methodology of the social sciences, higher education
knowledge production, sociology of science, scientometrics and science
