GET YOUR FREE MENDELEY
PREMIUM ACCOUNT

The Library and Information Service is
currently participating in a special Premium programme allowing you to
upgrade to Mendeley Premium features with no additional cost. Mendeley
is a free reference management tool and is also designed to be an
academic networking tool. It is tightly integrated with Elsevier
databases Scopus and Science Direct.
The additional features of Mendeley Premium include:
· Additional individual storage space (from 2GB to 5GB)
· Additional group storage space ( from 100MB to 20GB)
· Ability to create unlimited private groups
· Membership for private groups increased to 25
· Additional features such as ‘Mendeley Suggest’
We know many of you already use Mendeley and believe the site-wide
deployment would further allow you to collaborate with your fellow
researchers. Therefore:
• If you already have a Mendeley account with an institutional e-mail
address (e.g. student@sun.ac.za) follow
this link to upgrade to the
Premium version.
• If you have a Mendeley account with a private e-mail address (e.g.
gmail, yahoo, hotmail) you will be able to claim your free upgrade
here. Please keep your
Mendeley Web account open while doing the upgrade. You will be asked to
verify your account with your institutional e-mail address.
• For those of you who do not use Mendeley yet, you are welcome to sign
up to Mendeley and download Mendeley desktop. Please use your
institutional e-mail address when signing up (e.g.
student@sun.ac.za).
The Library is presenting several workshops to help demonstrate how you
can best use Mendeley.

You are welcome to use the online
guide for Mendeley, where you
will find instructions on how to install and set up your Mendeley
account, how to add documents and citations to Mendeley, how to create
in-text references and bibliographies, how to create your online profile
and collaborate in groups.

Die Biblioteek- en Inligtingsdiens neem
tans deel aan ’n spesiale program waarvolgens al ons studente en
personeel sonder enige koste kan opgradeer na Mendeley Premium. Mendeley
is ’n gratis verwysingsbestuurhulpmiddel wat ook ontwerp is om as
akademiese netwerkhulpmiddel gebruik te word. Mendeley is ook goed
geïntegreer met die Elsevier databasisse Scopus en Science Direct.
Die bykomende eienskappe van Mendeley Premium sluit die volgende in:
· Bykomende stoorspasie vir individue (van 2GB word dit verhoog tot 5GB)
· Bykomende stoorspasie vir groepe (van 100MB word dit verhoog tot 20GB)
· Die moontlikheid om ’n onbeperkte hoeveelheid privaatgroepe te skep
· Lidmaatskap vir privaatgroepe word verhoog tot 25 lede per groep
· Ander eienskappe soos “Mendeley Suggest”
Ons is bewus daarvan dat baie van julle reeds Mendeley gebruik en ons
glo dat hierdie kampuswye ontplooiing van Mendeley Premium dit vir julle
moontlik sal maak om tot ’n groter mate met jul mede-navorsers saam te
werk. Daarom:
· As jy reeds ’n Mendeley rekening geskep het met jou institusionele
e-posadres (bv student@sun.ac.za), gebruik
hierdie skakel om op te
gradeer.
· As jy ’n Mendeley rekening met ’n
privaat e-posadres het (bv gmail, yahoo, hotmail), kan jy ook opgradeer
deur op
hier
te kliek. Maak asseblief seker jy het jou
Mendeley Webbladsy oop terwyl jy opgradeer. Jy sal gevra word om jou
rekening te verifieer met jou institusionele e-posadres.
· Indien jy nog nie ’n gebruiker is nie, is jy ook welkom om op Mendeley
in te teken en Mendeley desktop af te laai. Gebruik asseblief jou
institusionele e-posadres (bv student@sun.ac.za), anders sal jy nie van
die gratis Premium eienskappe gebruik kan maak nie.
Die Biblioteek gaan verskeie werksessies aanbied om te demonstreer hoe
Mendeley ten beste benut kan word.

indien jy die volgende sessie wil bywoon.
Gebruik gerus ook die aanlyn-Mendeley gids vir aanwysings oor
hoe om Mendeley te installeer en ’n rekening te skep, hoe om dokumente
op te laai, hoe om inteksverwysings en bibliografieë te skep, hoe om jou
eie profiel te skep en saam te werk in groepe.
