Hoogtepunte uit die 2003 Jaarverslag
 
Die Biblioteekdiens se 2003 Jaarverslag is nou op die tuisblad beskikbaar en sluit die volgende hoogtepunte in:

Strategie vir die Millennium
Die oorskakeling van papiertydskrifte na volteks elektroniese medium is ’n belangrike projek wat in 2003 gestalte gekry het.  Die projek word uiteengesit in Die Strategie vir die Millennium: oorgang na elektroniese inligtingsdraers en bou voort op die Strategie vir die Millennium (2000). Die projek is in volle konsultasie met dosente, navorsers en studente afgehandel.

Samewerking met buitelandse organisasies
Open Society Institute se projek: Electronic Information for Libraries (eIFL); die Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) van Stanford Universiteit en die Members Council van die Online Computer Library Centre (OCLC) in Columbus, Ohio is enkele van die vennootskappe waarop daar in 2003 voortgebou is.

Aktiewe deelname aan die Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA)
Aktiewe deelname aan die aktiwiteite van die beroepsorganisasie is altyd 'n belangrike prioriteit vir die Biblioteekdiens. 'n Groep van sewe personeellede het dan ook die Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) se jaarlikse konferensie wat in September in Rustenburg gehou is, bygewoon.

Jaarlikse biblioteeksimposium
Die jaarlikse biblioteeksimposium is in 2003 vir die sesde keer baie suksesvol aangebied. Die tema: “The cost of Information: who pays the Ferryman?” het groot belangstelling uitgelok en meer as 130 afgevaardigdes het dit einde Oktober 2003 bygewoon.

Pro Bene Merito-toekenning aan mnr WC Luijendijk
Tydens die biblioteeksimposium is die Pro Bene Merito-medalje vir uitstaande diens aan die Universiteit aan mnr WC Luijendijk van Nederland toegeken.
