Dvořák exhibition at Music Library
An exhibition on the life and works of Antonín Dvořák will be on view in the foyer of the Music Library until November 2004. Dvořák is regarded as one of the great nationalist Czech composers of the 19th century. He was born in Nelahozeves on September 8, 1841 and died in Prague on May 1, 1904.
Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the years 1892-1895 which Dvořák spent in New York as Director of the National Conservatory of Music. Two great compositions were directly influenced by Dvořák's sojourn in America: The New World Symphony and his Cello Concerto.
This exhibition was prepared by Frida Bekker of the Music Library.
