onlangs by die Biblioteekdiens se lys
van elektroniese bronne gevoeg. Die databasisse wat almal deur die
Internet toeganklik is, is besonder gebruikervriendelik en 'n groot aanwins
vir die gebruikergemeenskap:

Academic ASAP 1980 - Jan 2003
Hierdie databasis dek dissiplines van geesteswetenskappe tot sosiale
wetenskappe, natuurwetenskappe en tegnologie. Toegang word verleen tot
vaktydskrifte, koerante en nuustydskrifte. ‘n Groot aantal artikels
is volledig elektronies beskikbaar en sluit grafika in.

Dissiplines wat gedek word, is: bestuurswetenkappe, ekonomie en politieke
wetenskap. Inligting word in die vorm van navorsingsverslae van makelaars,

1969+
Bibliografiese inligting met betrekking tot fisika, elektronika, elektriese
ingenieurswese en inligtingstegnologie word verskaf.
Dit
vul die bekende drie sitaat databasisse aan wat reeds onder Web of Science
gegroepeer word, nl: Art &
Humanities Citation Index, Science
Citation Index en Social
Science Citation Index.

Databases
New
databases were recently added to the Library's
list of electronic resources. The databases, which are all
accessible via the Internet, are particularly user friendly and are regarded
as important assets to the user community:
Expanded
Academic ASAP 1980 - Jan 2003
This
database meets research needs across all academic disciplines, from arts and
the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, Access is
provided to scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers. Many
articles are available in full-text format and include images.
General
Business File International
1980 - Jan 2003
Disciplines covered are business management, economics and political
science. Information is provided in the form of broker research
reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and directory listings
with full-text and images.

This
database contains biographies and full-text articles on well-known people. Searches
can be perfomed
on the basis of one or more personal facts such as birth and death dates,
nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender.

software, electronics, engineering, communications and the application of
technology.
History

The history of the twentieth century is covered, with full-text articles
from more than 100 academic journals.

of Knowledge has also recently acquired two new databases:
CAB
Abstracts
1990+
A general agricultural
databasis. In addition to agriculture, it also provides bibliographic
information on forestry, human nutrition and environmental
conservation. CAB Abstacts was previously available on the
SilverPlatter platform.
Inspec
1969+
Bibliographic information is
provided regarding physics, electronics, electrical engineering and
information technology.
These
additions complement the already well-known citation databases provided by
Web of Science, namely: Art
& Humanities Citation Index, Science
Citation Index en Social
Science Citation Index.
An introduction to the databases will be
presented in the Auditorium of the JS Gericke
Library on 19 March 2003 at 14:00.
