Enchance your online identity and impact as a researcher: ORCID and beyondThere are many ways in which you can increase your impact as a researcher. By enhancing your online identity you will be a few steps closer. It all starts with having a unique author identifier (we recommend ORCID) and from there you could grow your impact by making sure your information on the web is accurate and up to date. Other ways to improve your impact as a researcher will also be discussed, such as the importance of where to publish, Open Access publishing, having author profiles on other networking sites such as ResearchGate and Mendeley. A quick overview of methods to increase your citations will also be addressed. Presenter: Marié Roux | Date | Tuesday 31 July

When is copyright copywrong? Copyright perspectives to consider when researching and writing your thesis.
Popular copyright arguments that are regularly presented by students and staff include ' it's on the internet, so I assume it's for free' or ' I altered the original image or content so I don't need permission' or ' it says royalty-free, so I can use it'. This presentation addresses copyright myths and deals with what is permissible as well as the limitations and restrictions regarding the use of third party content within a thesis or dissertation and then briefly looks at the ownership of this content created by SU students during the course of the execution of their study obligations (including all research conducted as part of such studies).
