Substantial financial losses are incurred by requested Interlending items that are not collected All interlending items that are requested at the JS Gericke Library must please be collected at the lending desk of this Library. Financial and man hour losses are incurred due to items that are not collected or paid. Please also note that requested material is no longer kept at the Interlending Section. Lost cards must be reported Students and staff that have lost their US cards, must report it lost to the lending section as soon as possible to prevent misuse thereof. Persons who have lost a card run the risk of being held responsible for library material that is borrowed with the card. Students and staff are also reminded that a valid US card is required when any transaction is concluded with the Library Service. This precaution protects bona fide clients against the misuse of cards that have been stolen or picked up. Journals with CD-ROMs held on open shelves at JS Gericke Library CD-ROMs that are published with journals (e.g. supplements) or journals that are published only in CD-ROM format, will be placed on the journal shelves (open floor, JS Gericke Library) in future. The CD container will indicate the title, volume, number as well as shelf number and the following wording: "CD for use in the library on a computer marked MULTIMEDIA only. Microfiche/film prints payable in advance at JS Gericke Library Clients have been paying in advance for photocopies of microfiche/film material (mainly theses) since 27 September 2004. Regrettably this measure had to be introduced due to the financial and manpower losses that were incurred by requested photocopies that were not paid for or collected by clients.
