Library staff attend 2003 LIASA Conference
This year the annual conference of the Library and Information Association of South Africa ( LIASA) was attended by Hennie Viljoen, Johan Engelbrecht, Johan Mouton, Elda Nolte, Delene Pretorius, Berta Els and Joanne Arendse.
The theme of this year's conference, which was held in Rustenburg, North-West Province between 23 and 26 September 2003, was “Libraries as agents of change”.

Joanne Arendse (left), who attended the conference as a Stellenbosch University Library delegate for the first time, explains:
"LIASA is the only association for library and information workers in South Africa. The Association strives to unite, develop and empower all people in the library and information field. It is also an organisation that provides dynamic leadership in transforming, developing and sustaining library and information services for all the people of South Africa."
