Access

All libraries of the Library and Information Service are accessible to all students of the University. Access control at the Stellenbosch University Library and branch libraries requires swiping a valid SU student card. See Library hours.

Borrowing privileges

  • Number of loans: 6 items
  • Borrowing period: 14 days per item
  • Renewals: 2 per item (within maximum renewal period of 42 days) unless someone else has requested it. Renew online or  ask a staff me​​mber.
  • Returns: To any of the libraries of the Library and Information Service
  • Fines for overdue items: R1.00 per item per day
  • Fine limit: R30.00 (borrowing privileges will be suspended when this limit has been exceeded)
  • Reserving books currently on loan: Free and unlimited. Reserve online or ask a staff member
  • Material available to borrow: All item types except where POLICY is indicated as “Not loanable"
  • Lost/damaged books: Replacement value payable to the Library and Information Service

Short loans

  • Frequently used items
  • Only available to SU students and staff
  • Number of items: 3
  • Loan period during library hours for use in the library: 3 hours
  • Loan period when library is closed: overnight (out 30 min before closing time; back 30 min after opening)
  • Fines for late items: R10.00 per hour after a grace period of 30 min

Print, copy & scan

Staff and students are able to print, copy and scan at any secure pull print printer available in the library by using your student/staff card. You are also able to print, copy or scan by using your student/staff card at Maties Copy & Print Shop that is situated in the Neelsie Student Centre. See Print, copy & scan.

Off-campus e-access

All electronic resources offered by the Library and Information Service via our library homepage are available from home, office computers, laptops or mobile phones. Use your SU network username and password to sign in. See Off-campus e-access.

Information services

An online information service is available at Ask a Librarian. Alternatively contact your faculty librarian for assistance.

Interlibrary loans

Material not available in any of the libraries of the Library and Information Service may be borrowed from other libraries. See Interlibrary loans.

Off-campus document delivery

Library material can be sent to students not residing on campus and who are prepared to pay for the service. See Off-campus document delivery.

Uitleenvoorregte

  • Aantal lenings: 6 items

Druk, kopieer & skandeer

Studente en personeel kan by enige 'secure pull print' drukker in die biblioteek druk, kopieer of skandeer deur hul studente-/personeelkaart te gebruik. Jy kan ook druk, kopieer of skandeer deur jou studente-/personeelkaart by die Maties Copy & Print winkel in die Neelsie Studentesentrum te gebruik. Sien Druk, kopieer & skandeer.

Gebruik die soekfunksie op die biblioteektuisblad of kies E-databasisse of E-tydskrifte vanaf die VIND-spyskaart.

Die soekfunksie op die biblioteektuisblad soek deur die Biblioteek se elektroniese bronne.

Afkampus- e-toegang

Al die elektroniese bronne waarop die Biblioteek- en Inligtingsdiens inteken is via die biblioteektuisblad ook vanaf huis-, kantoor- en skootrekenaars of selfone toeganklik. Gebruik jou US-netwerkgebruikersnaam en -wagwoord om in te teken. Sien Afkampus- e-toegang.


Inligtingsdiens

'n Aanlyn inligtingsdiens is beskikbaar by "Vra 'n bibliotekaris" (Ask a Librarian). As alternatief kontak jou fakulteitsbibliotekaris.

Interbiblioteeklenings

Items wat nie in enige van die US-biblioteke beskikbaar is nie, kan van 'n ander biblioteek aangevra word. Sien Interbiblioteeklenings.

Afkampusdokumentlewering

Biblioteekmateriaal kan teen betaling na studente wat nie op kampus is nie, gestuur word. Sien Afkampusdokumentlewering.

Lokaalbesprekings

'n Verskeidenheid lokale is vir bespreking beskikbaar. Sien Besprekings.
