Marianna Kritzinger attended the "Off the shelf: a workshop on the
provision and use of e-books in libraries" between 13 and15 December
which was presented at the UCT Graduate School of Business. The
workshop was jointly organised by the UCT Centre for Information
Literacy and the University of Wales Department of Information
Studies.
Annemarie Maritz, Carine Tymbios, and Hanlie Strydom attended a
workshop hosted by the Library & Information Association of South
Africa (LIASA) Special Libraries Interest Group (LiSLIG)
titled "Beyond Google: Keeping up with new search tools". The
presenter at this workshop was Karen Hartman, Regional Information
Resource Officer, U.S. Embassy, South Africa.
A vast amount of time was also invested in training all involved staff
members with regards to a new version of the Library Service’s
computer system, Aleph v.16; the University’s new appraisal system as
well as the University’s human resources system, SUN-e-HR.
