Enhancing the impact of research through open access publishing

Presenters:
Ms. Johanna Kuhn, OA Partnerships Manager at Springer Nature
Mr. John Sterley, Account Manager at Elsevier
Dr Lorna Stimson, Publishing Director at Wiley

Time: 09h00 - 11h00

Enhancing the impact of research through open access publishing refers to the practice of making academic research freely available online to anyone, without paywalls or other barriers. Open access publishing aims to increase the visibility, accessibility, and impact of research by removing the restrictions that traditional publishing models impose.

In this session, publishers will speak about the transformational agreements they signed with SANLiC (a consortium of university libraries in South Africa) that allow South African researchers from universities to publish open access in hybrid journals of some publishers for free without paying article processing charges. In this session, the publishers will explain the terms and conditions and other nuances of these transformational agreements.
