Service is presenting a Library Research Week and we invite all emerging
researchers and postgraduate students to develop your skills and knowledge and
get equipped with the necessary SMARTs to guide you on your research path.

Research Collaboration: Finding peers and building networks

Description:
Presented by Dr Christoff Pauw of the Postgraduate and International Office and Ms Riana
Coetsee from the Division for Research Development, this session
will show how research collaboration can benefit emerging researchers and will include case studies
from Stellenbosch University. The presentation will be followed by an additional opportunity
for discussion in the JS Gericke Library staff room where light snacks will be served.

Research Collaboration Tools

This session will look at the value of research
collaboration tools offered by the Library (e.g. SciVal, Mendeley, Researcher ID and social media), choosing the
appropriate tools to facilitate collaboration and how to use them. A case study will also be presented.

Research Therapy: Visual interactive research poll discussion

A visual interactive research poll will be set up in the JS
Gericke Library during Library Research Week. This poll will give researchers and students the
opportunity to indicate where they find the biggest obstacles within the research lifecycle. This
discussion will look at the outcomes of the poll and give participants further opportunity to discuss the
role of the Library and Information technology in the research lifecycle.
