NEW E-RESOURCES
AVAILABLE

In spite of the financial pressure caused
by
the deteriorating rand, the Library Service still managed this year to
subscribe to a number of new databases and other electronic resources.
Only three of these resources are highlighted below.
Probably the most exciting of these is
JoVE (Journal of
Visualized Experiments), the world’s first peer-reviewed scientific
video journal. Authors who publish in JoVE, can dynamically present
their methods, data analyses and results clearly, accurately and
professionally with the help of the journal’s professional videographers
and editors. The visual presentation makes it easy for other researchers
to replicate experiments and the videos can be used in classrooms as
teaching material.
Although JoVE consists of ten sections, the Library only subscribes to
the general section. There are already 1 258 video articles in this
section, which mainly covers the following areas: molecular biology;
bioinformatics; computational biology; marine biology; environmental
biology and non-pathogenic microbiology.
Another new database is
Sports Medicine and Exercise Science in Video,
an extensive video collection in the areas of fitness, health
assessment, disease management, injury treatment, nutrition, sport
science, work-site wellness, and much more. The videos consist of
lectures by experts and practical demonstrations of skills and
techniques.
EasyData is a database with South African macroeconomic,
industry, trade and regional indicators and analysis that can be used by
economists to monitor and analyse the South African economy. Use your SU
e-mail address to create a personal EasyData account.
All these databases can be accessed via the Library’s
A-Z database
list.

NUWE E-BRONNE
BESKIKBAAR
teken. Hieronder volg inligting oor drie van hierdie nuwe databasisse.
Waarskynlik die opwindendste een is
JoVE (Journal of Visualized
Experiments), die wêreld se eerste portuurbeoordeelde wetenskaplike
videotydskrif.
In hierdie afdeling is daar reeds 1
biologie; bioinformatika; berekeningsbiologie; marinebiologie;
omgewingsbiologie en nie-patogeniese mikrobiologie.
’n Ander databasis waarop die Biblioteekdiens vanaf Januarie 2014
inteken, is
Sports Medicine and Exercise Science in Video, ’n
Gebruik
jou US e-posadres om ’n persoonlike rekening in EasyData te skep.
Verkry toegang tot al hierdie databasisse
deur middel van die Biblioteek se
A-Z databasislys.
