The Library and Information Service offers special services and privileges to alumni of the Stellenbosch University.
Access
All libraries of the Library and Information Service are accessible free of charge to alumni of the University subject to positive identification with a valid identification document (photo identification is essential).
Lending privileges
Library membership, at a special fee and including lending privileges, is restricted to alumni who reside within a 150 km radius from Stellenbosch. The particulars of all persons applying for alumni membership will be verified on the alumni database.
- Membership fee: R300-00 per annum
- Number of loans: 3 items
- Loan period: 2 weeks per item
- Renewals: 2 renewals per item
- Returns: Library items may be returned to any of the libraries of the Library and Information Service.
- Fines for overdue items: 50c per item per day
- Fine limit: R20-00 (lending privileges will be suspended when this limit has been exceeded)
- Material available for loan: Item types indicated as “Unrestricted”
- Lost/damaged books: Replacement value payable to the Library and Information Service.
Proof of address is required.

Cash facilities are available in the Read Me Services (RMS) photocopying facility, JS Gericke Library, and at the lending desks of the branch libraries (40c per page).

Information services
Only basic information services are provided. These include assistance to become self-sufficient in finding sources and information, in either printed or electronic format. Should assistance be required, please enquire at the general information desks on the upper and lower levels of the JS Gericke Library or ask any staff member at the various branch libraries.
Venue bookings:
The auditorium in the JS Gericke Library is available to members of the public at a fee of R250-00 per hour (R2 500-00 maximum).
