The Library and Information Service has invested significant resources in growing its Open Access services to its user communities. It has developed a dynamic repository (SUNScholar) for the Institution. Concomitant with the development of the repository is the support for publishing via the golden route to Open Access through a hosting service for electronic journals (SUNJournals). Further, the University encourages publishing in Open Access journals by way of providing funding for page fees from an Open Access Fund. There is further support for the sharing of conference proceedings through an online conference proceedings management system (SUNConferences).

Stellenbosch University is proud to host the Berlin 10 Open Access Conference. This prestigious conference will be held at the University from 6 to 8 November 2012.​​
