What may borrowers do?
Borrow
Items are issued at the lending desk. Material on loan from this collection may be returned to
USBI or to any of the other libraries of the SU Library and Information Service. The library does not dispatch books to clients. Students have to arrange with a courier service to collect the books at USBI (for their own account).
Renew
Two renewals are allowed (if not yet reserved by another client) by:
replying to the library's courtesy e-mail to remind you that the book is due to be returned;
phoning the lending desk on 021 918 4272/3/4;
visiting the library;
signing in to My Account to renew loans online. However, no online renewals are allowed if loans are already overdue.
Return
Return library material at the lending desk during library hours.
After hours: drop returns into the book deposit box adjacent to the library entrance.
Retrun library material to any of the other libraries of the SU Library and Information Service.
Penalty for overdue items: 50c per item per day.
Reserve
If a book is already on loan, it can be reserved online or contact USBI. You will be contacted by a staff member when the book is ready for collection.
More information on borrowing is available at the various User guides.
Interbranch loans
A daily shuttle service transports library material between the three university campuses of Stellenbosch, Bellville and Tygerberg. Library material housed at any of the libraries on these campuses may be
requested at the respective lending sections and will be delivered to the preferred library. The barcode of
the item in question - as indicated in the library catalogue - must be supplied when a requested is submitted.
New books
All new books are placed on a designated new books shelf. New books may be borrowed.
