Library workshop: Creating alerts to stay up-to-date in your discipline (17 May)


If you want to keep current on the latest news and research and would like to be more efficient by having that information come to you instead of having to browse through different websites,  come and learn how to set up alerts for Google, Google Scholar, e-journals, publishers’ databases and websites.


On 17 May 2012 the Research Commons (JS Gericke Library) will present a workshop on creating alerts to stay up-to-date in your discipline.  Participants will learn how to set up alerts for topics of interest in Google, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost and ScienceDirect as well as how to aggregate news feeds from all over using Google Reader so that it can be read in one place.

Library workshop: Finding full-text easily (24 May)


Increasingly, information resources such as books, journals and theses are made available in full-text.  On 24 May the Research Commons (JS Gericke Library) will present a workshop on finding e-books, articles, theses and other full-text material easily via the Library’s website.  


Participants will learn the following skills:
•    Finding and using e-books available on the library catalogue or website
•    Finding full-text articles in specific library databases and via Google Scholar
•    Finding full-text articles via the Library’s search engine, SUNSearch
•    Finding e-theses using SUNScholar, the University’s digital research repository
•    Browsing online journals
