Auditorium

Equipment

The auditorium has seating for 147 people and is equipped with the following:  

  • Overhead data projector.

  • Lectern and a computer with Windows XP and MS Office 2010 software programmes (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint 2010) as well as with CD/DVD drives and USB ports for USB flash disks.

  • DVD/video player available.

  • Wireless lapel microphone (available at the lending desk of the Library).

  • Chalk board.

Rules 

Patrons using the auditorium are requested:  

  • To ensure that all computer equipment, including the projector, are switched OFF when leaving the auditorium.

  • To lock the auditorium and return the keys and lapel microphone to the lending desk before leaving the Library.

  • Not to move furniture around in the auditorium, neither to remove furniture from, or to add other furniture to the auditorium. 

  • Not to smoke or have refreshments in the auditorium. 

  • Not to put anything up on the walls of the auditorium.

  • Not to disturb library clients in close proximity of the auditorium. 

  • To keep the auditorium tidy at all times. 

Patrons who fail to comply with these rules will be denied further bookings of the auditorium.

Bookings

Bookings must be made at the Lending Division of the JS Gericke Library either in person, or by e-mail  or phone +27 21 808 4883.

All bookings must be made well in advance. Academic and administrative staff as well as societies registered with the Students Representative Council may use the auditorium in the JS Gericke Library free of charge. The auditorium is also available to other institutions and members of the public at a fee of R250.00 per hour (R2 500.00 maximum).

The keys and wireless lapel microphone of the auditorium must be collected at and returned to the lending desk of the Library.

Refreshment facilities are not available. Please direct participants to sessions in the auditorium to the Langenhoven Student Centre ("The Neelsie"). Water carafes are available on request.
